Coding Workshops

We are delighed to welcome Brendan Smith back to our school for a series of coding workshops!

The children from Rang a 3 - 6 will be using Scratch (version 3) to code their own games and characters.

Scratch is the world’s largest coding community for children and a coding language with a simple visual interface that allows young people to create digital stories, games, and animations. Scratch is designed, developed, and moderated by the Scratch Foundation, a nonprofit organisation.

Scratch promotes computational thinking and problem solving skills; creative teaching and learning; self-expression and collaboration; and equity in computing. The idea came from building using lego blocks. You can come up with your own ideas from Scratch! or download, edit and personalise and adapt premade games online.

Scratch is always free and is available in more than 70 languages. Scratch is designed especially for young people ages 8 to 16, but people of all ages create and share with Scratch. Younger children may want to try ScratchJr, a simplified version of Scratch designed for ages 5 to 7. Visit https://scratch.mit.edu/parents/ for more information and to download the help sheets if required.

If you want to download the free programme on your laptop or computer at home click on the link below. App versions are also available in the App Store!
